WebSocket keeps a persistent bidirectional connection open, for use cases that need live application state — a robot waiting for payment confirmation at a terminal, or a dashboard showing balances in real time.

Use webhooks for server-to-server notifications that must be durable; use WebSocket for low-latency, session-scoped updates.
